US Executive Orders prohibits transactions with TikTok & WeChat

The Trump Administration has issued 2 new Executive Orders (E.O.s), “Addressing the Threat Posed by TikTok” and “Addressing the Threat Posed by WeChat”, which will come into effect on 20 September 2020. For reasons of national security, the E.O.s prohibit any transaction by any US individual or entity with Chinese-owned companies (1) ByteDance, which owns TikTok, and (2) Tencent Holdings when the transactions relate to its company WeChat.
